Post-apocalyptic movies are one of my favourite things to watch because I am fascinated by how survivors navigate a dangerous new world without law, order and other necessities.
One of the stories that has stayed with me is about Alexandria, a small community of survivors, in an episode of a zombie-apocalyptic series.
The community had a weak fence, but they survived long after many communities with more robust security had fallen to zombie invasions.
Here is how they survived for so long…
They thought the fence protected them; they didn’t know there was an abandoned quarry close to the community, and for some reason, thousands of zombies that would have invaded their community got trapped in the quarry.
So, Alexandria survived for a long time, not because of anything they had done right or better than other survivors. It was because something somewhere randomly worked in their favour!
Like many people in the post-apocalyptic series, they eventually had their share of turbulence, but unlike many, they had a chance to live longer.
